Residential Design

Residential interior designer, Danielle Jacques, focuses on almost all aspects of the home design process. Danielle will lead you through the design, professional design team coordination, planning and budgeting of any project. She specializes in specifying and purchasing and furnishings installation of private homes, including the specialty areas of the kitchen, bath, home theater, home office, and custom product design. Danielle's interior projects include new construction, renovation, and model homes.

Danielle is often involved in interior detailing of background elements like ceiling designs, specialty trim and case work, including interior doors and door hardware. She also has an eye for lighting – both architectural and decorative. Danielle is tech-savvy, coordinating audio-visual and communication technology into her designs. Functionality, both organizational and storage needs are of high regards and implemented in her interior design work. Many interior designers stop at the "pretty things." Not Danielle. She is involved in the interior finish schedules of walls, ceilings and floors, in addition to selections of appliances, plumbing, and flooring materials.

Danielle also provides specification and purchasing services to procure materials, furniture, accessories and art. Basically, if it is something that can be seen in your home, Danielle knows how to get it and how to make it flow with the rest of the design.

Danielle's Process

Whatever space she is working on, Danielle follows a process, known as programming, to determine the client's needs and wishes. Danielle usually meets face-to-face with the client to find out how the space will be used and to get an idea of the client's preferences and budget. For example, Danielle might inquire about a family's cooking habits if the family is remodeling a kitchen or ask about a clients favorite color or style to pick an appropriate motif. Danielle also will visit the space to take inventory of existing furniture and equipment and identify positive attributes of the space and potential problems.

process

After collecting this information, Danielle formulates a design plan and estimates costs. Today, designs often are created with the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software, which provides more detail and easier corrections than sketches made by hand. Upon completing the design plan, Danielle will present it to the client and make revisions based on the client's input.

When the design concept is finalized, Danielle will begin specifying the materials, finishes, and furnishings required, such as furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering, and artwork. Depending on the complexity of the project, Danielle also might submit drawings for approval by a construction inspector to ensure that the design meets building codes. If a project requires structural work, Danielle works with an architect or engineer for that part of the project. Most designs also require the hiring of contractors to do technical work, such as lighting, plumbing, and electrical wiring. Danielle will recommend contractors.

Finally, Danielle develops a time line for the project, coordinates contractor work schedules, and makes sure work is completed on time. Danielle oversees the installation of the design elements, and after the project is complete, Danielle, together with the client, pay follow-up visits to the residence to ensure that the client is satisfied. If the client is not satisfied, Danielle makes corrections.

Fee Structures

Designer offers a variety of fee structures tailored to meet the specific needs and requests of client based on a number of variables, including, but not limited to, the complexity of the project and the types of professional interior design services to be rendered.Design work is charged based on 4 tiers: Consultation Services, Specifications Services, Interior Services and Purchasing Services. Preliminary meeting is complimentary. Professional portfolio, Schedule of Services, and A Letter of Agreement is presented. Please note: contractual agreement is signed prior to any design services.

Consultation Services – hourly. This is for the consumer who is in need of ideas, information, and does not want to commit to a designer overseeing their project. The "does it yourself" type of client needs insight and suggestions only and will take on the design process independently.

Specifications Services – per square foot basis. This is for the client who is building, or remodeling a home. The designer will oversee the entire project and act as the client's agent, providing all material selections, designs, and applications.

Interior Services – per square foot or flat fee (dependent on the scope of the project). This is for the client that needs "to bring it all together". Space planning, CAD drawings, selection of all furniture (interior & exterior), window treatments, rugs, bedding, accessories, lighting, art, etc.

Purchasing Services – Designers shall be compensated by a percentage or cost plus fee based upon the total cost of Interior Installations and Merchandise.
